Sophie Du Palais - March 2022 Chart

sophie du palais - 010

One of the bright talent emerging from the current Netherlands‘ electronic underground scene is the German and Amsterdam-based, ‘fetish-inclined’, vocalist and performer Sophie du Palais (Pinkman, Dekmantel Recordings) also known as “Vrouwe Fataal”. Sophie Du Palais seizing an uncompromising sense of style and intensity, an emergent new artist navigating a merciless, pleasure-seeking existence, from club to bedroom to screen, facing it all down with a cold glare, ready to light the fuse.

This EP really takes me back to days I don’t even know. What Is Jungle? This title is the perfect answer. It’s cultural, it’s noisy and it’s the UK sound we love. Thanks to Phoebe White’s sweet voice, it’s also a melancholic and warm track to listen to by the fireplace… no seriously, it’s a dance floor stomper and her voice fits perfectly with the instrumental.
Delving deep into a highly personal and unique sound cosmos this album covers a wide range of sound textures. Featuring trippy jungle grooves, mesmerizing tribal percussion, countless eccentric effect pedals and hints to 90’s Goa.
Think tripped-out Techno, Minimal, Electro and every shade in between.
Reissued by Clone for a new generation, Geisha features an impressive range across a short span of tracks. There's the electro noir of "Beta Capsule", followed by "Cigarette Lighter", a catchy synth pop track and best of all the atmospheric melodies of "Virtual Geisha (She Interacts)", a low paced paean to the shiny futurism of Asian metropolises.
Meticulously programming near perfect drum loops and placing them onto subtle layers of otherworldly synthesis. The music inspires intro-mental journeys yet remains tinged with energy and emotion. These tracks are a true zeitgeist of a golden era in electronic music.
This release is my absolute favourite from all of them, Invisible menders are back , the quality is always top-notch. They cook up a mind-altering piece of deep, supple techno here that takes you on a real cosmic adventure. A deep trip!
When I saw Simo Cell for the first time at Dekmantel Selectors I was so pleased to hear old school hip hop treasures like the “whisper song”, this release is something completely different but just because of the variety of sounds I like Simo style A LOT!
This release bring fresh heaters from up and rising producers. Especially Naone “Silhouette” is my kind of style: an aggressive slice of dopey, bass-heavy cosmonautics, tailored to have you zoning out into a magnetic field of alien echoes, delays and reverbs.
