This is the famous Katanga Guitar sound, as recorded by Hugh Tracey. Beautifully remastered, these songs were based on the likembe traditions of the various Luba peoples and their neighbours, who went to work in the copper mines – the first recordings of Mwenda Jean Bosco, Ilunga Patrice, Ombiza Charles, and others.
