Back in 1997, Quiet Men (Lino Monaco, Nicola Buono)) released a dreamy, deep techno trip called Brain. It featured on the brilliant Outer Space Communications Volume 4 ‎CD on Disturbance records alongside tracks from Astral Body, T.W.E and Caustic Window aka Aphex Twin.

Many years later, whilst driving through the glorious English Countryside during sunset, space•lab’s Dr Baird was listening to the recently unearthed CD and fell in love with the beautiful synths, the deep bass and the intricate production of Brain.

The next day, he began digging for more info about the Quiet Men and as fate would have it, they’d met the year before at a party where under retina.it, and alongside Donato Dozzy and Neel they played unforgettable 5 hour improvised live set in London.

Somewhere deep in the cosmos, stars had aligned and after chatting about a re-release of Brain, Lino sent a pack of unreleased tracks from the Quiet Men project which had been on a dusty DAT since the late 90’s. Four were chosen to accompany Brain, including a beatless version, and were mastered by Neel.

So around 25 years after they were first made, we are beyond excited to present the first Quiet Men release since the turn of the millennium - The Transition EP - with 5 tracks of cosmic techno, melting soundscapes and pumping 90’s jams, remastered and on vinyl for the first time.
