Joe Delon - April 2022 Chart

joe delon - 011

Welt Discos boss Joe Delon’s greatest satisfaction comes from linking the vivid elements of dance music’s past with the best of its vibrant present, to create moments of pure pop catharsis. This approach has brought him to prime-time slots at Panoramabar, Dimensions Festival, The Pickle Factory, Kiss Me Again, Closer and K4. He’s also a regular at the queer parties Pumping Velvet and El Cuerpo Del Disco. Joe writes a regular substack newsletter about his experiences as a listener and DJ at joedelon.substack.com

The fourth record on my label Welt Discos comes from Velvet Velour and it's just in time for the summer. Musically playful house and breaks that will light up any dancefloor.
The brooding side of Eddie Fowlkes makes for compelling listening. OCB injects his own limousine style into the updated electrofunk mix, with some Detroit strings for good measure.
Carpet & Snares boss Jorge Caiado's latest record has a dancefloor epic on the A and two killer grooves on the B. My favourite is the B1, an addictively simple looper that slowly but surely tightens its grip on your body and feet.
Sophisticated techy house music with a sense of humour. Come for the downtempo carbonara recipe on the A1, stay for the crafty genre-splitting rollers on the A2 and B.
Jazz, broken beat, dnb, jungle - it's all here on this brilliant Tone Scientist retrospective from Basic Moves. It's the sound of a musician drawing on decades of dance music history to create something entirely their own.
Essential James Pennington repress. One time when I was playing 'Nightvision' the power went off in the venue, and the whole crowd chanted the synth line until the music came back on. Magic.
Cinematic storytelling from Lisbon collective Vilamar, who I admire for doing their own thing and doing it well. Each track builds on the atmosphere of the last to conjure a dangerously intriguing world.
Nottetempo does it again with sparkling, nuanced IDM and techno beamed in from Australia. Music for after the after, or - in the B1 - for the emotional rush of a very special dancefloor.
