The latest 12th Isle record! We have been waiting a very, very long time for this one. Super happy to share more works from the S A D archives with the world.
I just came across this browsing the site actually, but bought the Chari Chari album when it came out. These reworks are all really cool to hear, and I think the decision making on picking the artists to interpret the tracks was really smart. Love both mixes of Esfera de Agua.
Lots of hype around this v/a on Australia’s Planet Trip, only got around to properly checking it out when Mayurashka sent me some of their music last month, but like it all!
New to me, again just saw this browsing on the site and decided to listen. ‘Sam Saa’, ‘I Tamburi Di Leu’ and ‘Aie Simu Aie’ stood out. Made a note to spend some time with this one.
Andrew and Roger of OYC have been friends since I was selling some copies of ‘Nightlands’ which is a compilation Andrew released on his Final Image label in the 80s. They played for me and JD Twitch with Zoviet France a few years ago and I’m looking forward to playing with them again this summer at Optimo’s Watching Trees festival. I got sent the tape of this from Andrew when they put it out and it’s cool to see World of Echo have put it on vinyl. I haven’t been to that shop yet (in London) but I like what they’re doing.

Most of the music I picked for this chart holds some kind of personal significance. I was given this tape by Victor de Roo when he invited me to Brussels, and it didn’t really click until a while later the music was by the guy who was in this group Kid Montana I like a lot. Stephan Barbery was also the graphic designer for Play It Again Sam between 1983 and 1990. Oh check out Victors music too :)
Richard and Tom who together are General Ludd are two people I’ve known from Glasgow for what must be half my life. Always enjoyed their live shows across various groups and this debut album has some great tunes, will definitely be playing some of these out over the coming year.
All time UK rave era outlier classic here. I was told by Sam who runs Blank Mind recently he first heard the track from a facebook post of mine ages and ages ago, and I heard he bought (or sold) a keyboard to the producer by chance and when they got talking he managed to convince him to agree to reissuing this 12”. It’s the first Moving Shadow and very different to how the label progressed. The windows are where the doors should be and the doors are where the windows should be!
I always look forward to getting promo files from Gilb’r and this album from him and I:Cube was another one I’ve been listening to these last few months. Look out for the 12” coming on Wake Dream also, it’s really good, I’ve been playing it in early sets and on the radio.
New Tarotplane! I love PJ’s music.
Enjoying this new release on Nummer’s label. Silvere took me surfing in Melbourne pre-pandemic and I nearly drowned – great times. Cousin is part of this Australian scene that are always bringing out interesting stuff. His track ‘Surrender’ on the One Eye Witness was really good too.
